We are looking at 2 different pop ups, this will be our first one so we don't know alot about them. The first one is a 1998 Flagstaff, it has a queen, full and twin bed, stove, fridge, micro,A/C, furnace, storage area up front and is in great condition. They want $3300 The second one which we have not seen in person yet is a Coleman Plantation. It has 2 king beds and a double, small couch, fridge, stove, micro, fully enclosed bath seperate from toilet, a/c, furnace and hot water heater. The canvas, curtains and seat cushions were all replaced 2 years ago and they are wanting $3000. I just wanted to get some opinions from people who know something about pop ups unlike us.
Thank You , Gene S. |

Gene,
It has always been my position when buying any used RV that you should closely inspect each unit you are considering. In the case of a Pop Up, I would ask the seller to put it down and then back up again. The visual experience will provide you with two critical issues. One, if the lift mechanics all are in proper working order. Second, the ease of the entire operation. If this process is equal in both units I would then look at what options are most important to you, and buy the unit that best fits your needs. Remember that new canvas and material could be a sign of a problem OR a sign of a caring owner. Get under the box and look at the condition, and look at the hubs to see if they have been well greased. That is about all I can offer. My first RV was a used Jayco Pop Up back in the mid 70's, and I have now grown into a 40' Diesel Pusher. Seven different units all together and only ONE was new, USED is a good thing in RV's. Lou |

Gene! I agree with what LGM stated above. Something you didn't mention was the year of the Coleman Plantation? Why did the seller replace the canvas? Those reason could tell you something. Look for signs of leaking or mold stains etc. Make sure nothing is covered up. Signs of fresh paint or overspray could mean that it has had repairs or rust painted over. From my personal experience and opinion the Coleman holds it value better than a Flagstaff. I have looked at quite a few tent trailers over the years and here is my choices below:
Jayco Coleman Starcraft This is just my humble opinion now.
