Default saving on toiletries?

Anyone got any advice to share on saving in anyway you can on toiletries? I feel that is an area that I need to be more frugal. Any tips would help.

Yes, buy single ply toilet paper instead of using the so-called special tissue for 4 times the price. I used to work for a marketing company and one of the products that were reps for packaged good ole' TP and they made over a 1000% profit on it!

I am one that buys the scott TP 1,000 sheets a roll. It is thin but works great and is still soft and we buy a package of 12 rolls at walmart for 6 bucks.

We buy our toilet paper at Costco, the Kirkland brand. You get a huge bag of about 50,000 rolls for about $4.00. Well, not quite, but it is great toilet paper and very inexpensive. We have never had a problem with it, either at home or in the rv.

NEVER buy toilet paper that states it is for use in rv's. It is 4 times the price and tests have shown that it does not disolve any faster than inexpensive brands. Besides it is usually one ply and useless. RV toilet paper is just a flat out ripoff.

Yes, we use scott toilet paper. we were fooled in the beginning when we were new to rvin and bought the expensive kind they claim is the only kind you can use in your rv.

I use conditioner instead of shaving cream. It works great and is alot cheaper! Buy a quality razor and dry it off after using it will make it last longer.

Also, refilling my soap dispensers and shampoo from economy size.

That's all I can think of right now.

Must be ... Prell Shampoo
Must be ... Colgate Toothpaste
Must be ... Old Spice Aftershave
Must be ... 2-Ply toilet paper ...(cheapest 2-ply brand)
Must be ... Bic "yellow handle" disposable razors

Must NEVER ... allow any type or brand of "Bar Soap" in my RV ....

it clogs drains and makes shower walls nasty... bar soaps have added stuff like "Pot Ash" to make the soap into a solid bar and these substances stick to the shower stall walls and the walls of the drain pipes and holding tank, creating not only clogged pipes, but smelly holding tanks.. ... liquid soaps don't do this as bad ...

Must NEVER ... allow 1-ply toilet paper in my RV ... it too expensive and wasteful

Next time you are at the store, price the cost of 1-ply and 2-ply and you will see that 1-ply TP is twice expensive as 2-ply ..
because you will need to buy twice as much 1-ply to do the same job that 2-ply does...

2-ply will NOT clog or otherwise harm any RV's toilet system...

Requiring a "Special" RV toilet paper and "Having" to use 1 ply toilet paper is an old "Wife's Tale" that has been circulating around the RV forums for several years and it's false information...

Other than these "MUST" items, I pretty much go with whatever is the cheapest price on most things, both in toiletries as well as other venues..

Some say I am just cheap... I say I am practical... :) :)

Very informative about the TP. Glad I read before I bought.
