Default Driving Buses/Conversions

Hello,

About 15 years ago, when I was in the PSV industry, it used to be the case
that mechanics could drive large buses (unladen weights of around 10 tonnes)
on their normal car driving licences, so long as there were no fair paying
passengers aboard. I keep reading that users of large motorhomes, sometimes
the same buses that have now been converted, must have an LGV licence if the
weight exceeds 7500kgs. Did the rules change?

8) It effects those who took their Driving tests after 1997. If you passed your test before 1997? You get Grandfather rights to drive up to 7500kgs with a Class C1, or over 7,500kgs if you have a class C. I passed mine in 1965 in Singapore and I have a class C. So I am OK. :wink
