Default Bought a computer + questions

I just bought my very first desktop computer. I've never owned a desktop
and the last one I worked on had the very first version of Windows. I've
owned nothing but laptops since 1995. Now that we're in a house, I'll
keep the laptop up to date with anti-virus, firewall and anti-spy stuff,
take alot of software off of it and use it for travel. It just got a new
hard drive last summer.

I have to admit that I'm not sure I didn't get more computer than I
needed, but the price was lower than I paid for the last laptop I got 3
years ago. It has a mini tower and a 19" flat panel screen with speakers
called a sound bar that attach to the panel so they don't take up too
much space. It should work with the web cam my daughter is buying me for
Chanukah, right?

The computer has an 80 gig HD ( I can't possibly use that much) and some
other speeding up stuff, the closest to my understanding is an 8MB
cache. 6 USB ports and a built-in floppy drive (free). 16X DVD+/-RW,
which I was told will take any kind of DVD or CD. Came with the damned
Roxio which is okay when working. If it doesn't I'll go out and buy Nero.

I bought another Dell. It's called an Optiplex 320 minitower. It has a
pentium 4 531/3.00GHZ, 1M, 800FSB processor (whatever that means) I
think it will be fast.

It's eligible for Vista upgrading, but I think I'll let other people
adventure with Microsoft until they get it right. I'm sticking with XP
home SP2 and only upgrading what I think I need without letting any
automatic upgrades from them.

The extras I got were another external 80 gig HD (way too big, but 80
gig was cheaper than smaller ones), a wireless keyboard and wireless
mouse and a Laplink cable and software to transfer stuff from one
computer to another. It's called PC Mover. I thought the extra HD was
good to have so I could back up everything on the computer and not worry
about losing stuff in a crash or HD failure. BTDT. I also made sure that
they are sending the recovery discs. They don't unless one asks.

I also got McAfee as they told me I couldn't use the one on the laptop
on both computers. I'm happy with their anti-virus and firewall. I don't
use their "privacy" stuff or run any of their "fix" programs. They
wanted to give me Norton and I told them to keep it along with Microsoft
Works. I have my Word Perfect 11 which is still supported and updated.

Now for the questions: I want to transfer all of my bookmarks from
FireFox to the new computer. I need step by step instructions that
consider the fact that I'm not very computer literate. I'm going to use
the PC mover software. I forgot the name of the file on FireFox that I'm
supposed to copy and once I copy it, how do I get it into the other
computer?

Will it come over with the Firefox program on the PC mover? The
computer should be here in a day or so. They gave me free next day
shipping. The PC Mover software and cable came today. It's supposed to
have a rebate but I can't find it. It might be online.

Next question: My experience with transferring programs from one
computer to another goes back to early 1996. At that time you couldn't
copy a licensed program and move it. Will this PC Mover be able to move
my licensed programs from one puter to another or will I have to just
load the CDs in myself. AFIK, I'm permitted to have them on two
computers upon which I am the exclusive user.

I'm hoping this PC Mover will make it easier than having to reload
programs and download others.

I think you should have this posted in the High Tech section. This is the TT section.
