If the trailer end of the cable is at or near the pin box, I would install the plug right behind the fifth wheel in the center of the box. This minimizes the swing of the cable in tight turn.

I had mine mounted right in front of my tail gate, and it has worked really well. The terminals on the back are well protected form rain/snow/salt ect. It also makes it really easy to plug in or unplug. I have also jacked knifed my trailer both ways as far as I can without hiting the cab and have never had it pull on the plug. Hope it helps

On both my previous TV and my current one, I mounted the receptacle on the left rear(driver's side) cornerpost of the bed. It's out of the way and easy to reach.

I can't think of a better place for it.

My old truck I had it mounted up front next to an installed tool box. The cable from the 5th wheel was to short to reach it and I had to add a 3ft extension. My new truck I have mounted in the back behind the left rear tire, flush with the bed.
